Verse 1.27 explained

Translation:

When Arjun saw all these people, who were his brothers and relatives, present all around him, he got overwhelmed with deep compassion and spoke to Shri Krishna in a voice full of sorrow.

Commentary:

Arjun for the first time realised that it was his own family against whom he will have to fight. This realization impacted Arjun deeply. He was feeling extremely emotional, which is evident by the sorrow in his voice as he spoke to Krishna.
